Summer Reading for Kids with Baker and Taylor Publisher Services
/Summer is in full swing and we love it! After a long day in the sun, our kids love coming home and relaxing with a book. Baker and Taylor Publisher Services offer so many incredible titles and series for kids. We wanted to share a few specific titles that we would think would be amazing to add to your summer reading lists.
All About Insects and All about Animals - These hardcover books are a great introduction to different types of bugs and animals. Each page has non-fiction text and beautiful pictures while highlighting specific types of bugs and animals. It also share some information about things animals and bugs share in common like animal journeys, cunning predators and camouflage.
Lightkeeper Boys Box Set - This set would be excellent for a character study. Each book is based on real people who had something in common and are stories of triumph, character building and perseverance. Each “chapter” is about a different character with some fun facts, questions to further thinking and a prayer at the end. Some of the people covered are C. S. Lewis, George Washington, James Clerk Maxwell, John Newton, Billy Graham etc.
Lightkeeper Girls Box set - The exact same format as the boys set except this set is about girls. Some of the girls highlighted in the stories include Florence Nightingale, Ruth Bell Graham, Corrie Ten Boom, Catherine Booth etc.
God’s Daring Dozen is a hardcover book series on the minor prophets. Each book highlights a different minor prophet in an illustrated easy to read book. These would pair great with reading through some of the minor prophet books of the Bible with your kids. Some of the titles include Nahum and the Ninevites, Malachi’s Final Message, Jonah’s Journey and Joel and the Locusts.
Act Along Bible - The book we are most excited about is this act along bible. This book would be amazing for drama with your children while learning about stories from the Bible. Each story has different lines and characters so children can participate in the retelling of a significant story from the Bible. Children could dress up, memorize their lines or you could simply read together as a family!
Let’s Draw - This is one of the best, easy to follow drawing books I have seen. Even our youngest could follow some of the shapes and lines and yet our older kids can add details and make their pictures intricate. By being able to follow directions, it gives children a foundation to add and build on. There are a lot of different items to choose from such as animals, people, actions vehicles and many more.
