Fall with Raincoast Books
/It feels like fall routines have already begun and although we are loving the sunshine, the air in the morning and evening feels cooler reminding us that fall is indeed just around the corner. The fall reminds us of cozy blankets, beautiful leaves and a lot of reading on the couch with our favourite warm drink. Here are a few new fall titles from Raincoast, a Canadian Distributor, and most of these titles you can find on Amazon or at your local Indigo.
If you have a toddler or preschooler a great author to add to your collection is Sandra Boynton. She has written many different books and all of our children have found her books to be hilarious and engaging. Her newest title, Fifteen Animals is a great read to practice counting. The illustrations are fun and playful and the board book makes it durable to share with someone else.
Bees, Trees, Seas and Me is a new cooperative learning game from Petit Collage. Children work together to return animals to their homes but have to be careful for factors that affect the animals habitat, such as temperature. The pieces are all durable and well made making it easy for younger hands to join in the fun as well.
Usborne is a well known book publishing brand that many families enjoy in their home. We love to use their Sticker Dolly Dressing books as an on the go activity in the car. Each page features a different scene and there are stickers to go with each page. Children can use the stickers that to imagine what that scene will look like. There are so many different themed books such as Bridesmaids, Travel, Winter Clothing, Fairies, Mermaids, Unicorns etc.
The I Wonder Why series is a new series to our families but we love the concept. Each book is filled with questions children ask about a participial topic with quick answers easy for them to understand or prompt some further research. We love encouraging children to be curious about the world, ask questions and find the truth. I Wonder Why the Sun Rises and I Wonder Why the Sea is Salty are a couple titles in the series but there are more and I Wonder Why Snakes Shed Their Skin would be a popular one in our home.
