Educational Books from Penguin

Even though we are almost wrapping up our official school year soon, that doesn’t mean that we will stop learning for two months. Our kids love to read - on their own or us reading to them - so we love adding new titles to our bookshelves and it’s a bonus when they are strong educational books. Penguin has a plethora of titles so we wanted to share a few with you today that we are planning on reading over the summer with our kids.

Dk’s Eyewitness books are excellent for studying topics. There are so many different titles in the series, but our boys are very interested in history so Vikings and Titanic were a perfect choice. The Birds book gives an in-depth look of everything to do with birds from courtship, beaks, feathers, maneuverability, etc. There are a variety of pictures and small writing sections on each page which make it easy to read.

The Math Adventurers Series is new to us but the books have colourful illustrations and an easy to follow story but the best part is the story is all about division. Each book covers a different math theme and in Share a Camping Trip, the focus is all about division. It is a great way to introduce a new math topic or reinforce one you are working on.

If you have a beginner reader or a child who will soon learn to read the Phonics Books Dandelion Books and Card Games are the perfect level. The simple readers cover a few targeted alphabet consonants and simple vowel sounds to create an easy to decode sentence on each page. The card games go through all of the different sounds from cvc words to digraphs, blends, etc. You can use them as flash cards or play the games in each box.
