Three!

My baby is three! How is that even possible? After much discussion this year, Jake decided he would love a garbage truck birthday party. So, I had to wrap my head around some how incorporating the stinkiest, yuckiest truck in our fun celebration!

My sister helped me create my vision for the "Beep Beep" posters, cups and placemats inspired by a fellow designer Meghann Miniello. Our guests were treated to a black and white neutral palette with pops of blue and green for the garbage trucks and garbage bins.

Sometimes I go overboard with food at parties and end up making things that kids don't really eat. This year I wanted to incorporate brands and food items that our family loves, including Jake, that we use on a regular basis. Enter Sunrype. Sunrype creates many different products ranging from Juice, Fruit Bars, Fun Bites and much more. Sunrype helped me serve snacks and drinks Jake loves like Sunrype's fruit to go's, Sunrype apple juice and I added grapes, sandwiches, popcorn and apples. I served lunch on white Replay plates which had the perfect number of compartments for lunch. I love that these plates are made from recycled plastic! Perfect choice for a garbage truck (and recycling truck) party.

I gave each child a treat cup with candies from Dare. Jake loves candy. I chose candy from Dare that is naturally flavoured, peanut free and gluten free. The kids loved the RealJubes Red, RealSour Strips, and RealFruit Gummies

At this age, little ones usually come with a parent so I made a basket for the adults to nibble on as well. When I think of juice boxes, I usually think of little kids, but Sunrype has fruit and veggie drink boxes which I loved for the adults! Even for my kids, any time I can sneak in more veggies I will.

So many yummy options: Fruit and Chia Bars, Fruit to Go's, Sunrype Fruit Plus Drink and candies from Dare! I had one of everything (even the rice krispie squares).

Jake loves Rice Krispie squares so my husband whipped up a batch for his party and they were a huge hit amongst the kids and parents. Sometimes simple is the best way to go.

The Township of Langley was so kind to send along Recyclying Truck Colouring books, a mini blue recycling bin and recycling tattoos for the kids!

Jake. I still remember the moment when I found out I was expecting with you. I had just attended an American Idol show in LA and was driving back to our condo in Palm Springs. Months later, you arrived early and unexpected and this organized mom didn't even have her hospital bag packed. To this day, you still keep me on my toes. You love the outdoors and constantly push me to adventure. You love asking the question "why". You love every vehicle, your family and any colour of jelly bean. However, for me, when you tell me love me and ask for a hug, those are the moments I treasure the most. It's not always perfect days, but every day with you is perfect.

Happy 3rd birthday Jake! You are so loved.
