Summer Reading for Kids with Penguin Young Readers

Whether you are heading out on a road trip, staying close to home or spending time at the beach, every child needs a good book in their hand to read during the summer. We are sharing a few of our favourite newer titles from Penguin Kids this summer. We love that you can find so many of these titles at your local Indigo or even online at Amazon.

Littles Ones

For the younger readers ages 2-6, we love to share books that have an educational focus or hands on activity. From Seed to Plant is a beautiful board book that share the life cycle of a plant by Gail Gibbons. I Love my Farm has lift the flaps on every page and share facts about our favourite farm animals throughout the book. Alphabet and Numbers is a great activity book pack that teachers children letter sounds and numbers while engaging children with stickers to do on every page to reinforce learning.

Ages 6-10

Amazing Animal Journeys - incredible harcover non fiction book illustrating and giving details of many different animals journey.

Who HQ Series - This is an engaging series highlighting signifaciton people, events, locations all over the world in a easy to read chapter book. Some newer titles for summer are: Who was Michaelangelo, Who was Stanley and Livingston, Who was Alexander the great, What was the Lewis and Clark Expedition

Animal Lovers - The Pet Rescue Adventures series written by Holly Webb is a great beginner chapter books series highlighting different stories about animals. There are so many different themes and animals this series that you can find a story for everyone. Some newer titles for summer are: The Seaside Puppy, A Kitten names Tiger, The Sad Pony, The Secret Puppy, The Dawn Seal, The Lost Bear Cub, The Wildmeadow Hare, etc.
