Spring Activities to do at Home

This Spring Break we filled out days with outside adventures and lots of fun activities indoors. We love Petit Collage and their innovative games and activities for children. Here are a few of our favourites we are using lately.

What am I? - if you’re going to buy one game for you preschool/school aged kids this is the one! It reminds me of the game headbanz, but a cuter and better version for kids. There are 4 pairs of glasses inside the game and a variety of cards with different vehicles, foods, animals etc. Children take turns asking questions trying to figure out which card they have. This helps children develop their language around asking relevant and helpful questions in the form of a game. The glasses make everyone look silly and adorable making this game a huge hit!

Even the littlest hands love exploring new concepts and activities. The Busy Train Wood Twist puzzle has chunky gear shaped pieces that children can turn to make the train move. They are easy to turn and can be moved around to different spots as well. This is a great game to strengthen fine motor skills for young kids.

The Animal Puzzle sticks from MudPuppy are so convenient to throw in a backpack or bag to bring along on a trip. The puzzles are small and compact and this set comes with 6 different puzzles! Funny Faces and Little Travelers are magnetic play sets stored in a tin. They are small enough to bring in the car on a road trip or to enjoy indoors as a quiet activity.

We spend a lot of time reading on the couch and Raincoast sent us a few new titles to check out. It is awesome when your oldest child can read to your younger two and Jake enjoyed reading “Let’s Count Canada” to his sisters. Each page highlights something unique about Canada while reviewing number concepts.
However, I think our favourite was a silly book called “What’s Going On Here”. Kids can tell their own story by flipping some of the pages at different times to make new stories and funny creatures. Each page also has a new question for children to interact with the book which I love! It’s definitely one you need to see and read.

Sometimes we just get bored, and that’s ok! It’s good to get bored because usually that’s when we can also become creative in making up a new game or embarking on a new activity. These Busy Ideas for Bored Kids activity cards are a great resource for coming up with ideas for kids to do on all these days we are spending at home. ALL THE DAYS we are spending at home have added up and
