Maximize Slow Moments
Over in Langley, BC we are just over a month into fall and we hope that you have been able to find rest amongst routine and little nuggets of special moments with your kids. We know the magic of pulling out a new craft or new activity on a slow Sunday afternoon so we wanted to share a few ideas with you from an awesome company: Djeco. Slow moments are always needed amongst routine and we have found that a simple activity can spark special moments between siblings or a parent and child.
FilaBella - The most beautiful set of wooden lacing beads any girl would love. This set has strawberries, birds, princesses and many other adorable figures. Lacing beads in an excellent fine motor activity that strengthens muscles for little fingers.
Scratch Sculptures - Scratch sets are perfect to take outside and require little set up. Kids choose a picture and scratch the top layer away to reveal a beautiful picture underneath. Sometimes, we pack these to take to a park or even do at our kitchen table on a rainy day. Kids love them because a magical picture appears under the top layer!
Gel pens - Lately our girls have been into writing in a notebook or journal. The surprise of a set of coloured pens adds a fun element to encourage children to write cards, notes and even a few highlights of their day. This set has all the classic colours: yellow, green, shades of blue, purples, orange, pink, red and black.
Probably one of our favourite items from DJECO are their ready to go activity kits. DJECO offers a variety of different themed activities for children to do that are all ready to go and use, all in one box. The three different ones we have tried are:
Collages for Toddlers - Toddlers glue missing pieces onto a picture to complete an adorable scene.
Get Creative with Paper - This set is designed for ages 3-6 and encourages children to cut out different shapes to make birds, butterflies and some other creatures.
Paint Three Characters - A step by step guided painting activity that children ages 3 and up can do by themselves! There are easy to understand pictures and colours making it simple for even the young ones to enjoy.
We hope we can inspire you to try one of these activities to craft a beautiful, slow moment with your children.
