Fall into Reading
The leaves are changing colours, we are seeing pumpkins on everyones doorstep and there is a crispness in the air. Fall Is definitely here and summer is over. While we mourn the warm summer nights, there is always a certain joy that fall brings. It is a season that reminds us that change can be beautiful and with Thanksgiving just around the corner, it is important to remind ourselves, our children and our families of all we have to be thankful for.
The cooler evenings encourage our family to grab a cozy blanket, a pile of books and lay on the couch after dinner. We love letting our children pick their favourite book for us to read and we always love introducing a few new titles each season.
Here are some new ones published by Manda Group Publishing we are enjoying this fall:
Apple Cake - If there is one book you are going to buy this fall to add to your collection then this is the book! Its beautiful illustrations leave you in awe of the beauty of fall. However, it is the heart behind the book that leaves us wanting to read more. The book reminds us to have a sense of gratitude and this couldn’t be more perfect for the Thanksgiving season.
I am Love - Peter H Reynolds is one of our favourite illustrators and his books are some of the first we received as teachers. ( I love the book Ish if you have never read it). I am Love reminds us all to have compassion for one another. This is a topic that can be hard to understand as a child and it is important to start having those conversations at an early age to teach a heart of compassion.
Little People Big Dreams - This series is one of our favourite new series from the past few years. Every year this series creates new titles based on people who had big dreams and worked hard to achieve them. We find these books so inspiring to young children. They have come out with a new series that come in sets of three all about Inspiring Writers, Music Stars etc. Some of the newest ladies added to the women series are Zaha Hadid and Mary Shelley.
