One For the Book Lover
It is no secret I love books and my kids love books. We read books every single day, multiple times a day and I absolutely love it! Reading to your children is one of the most important things you can do to help your child learn to read on their own.
Chronicle books has this great collection of stories for both adults and kids but we definitely have a few favourites! Last year at my school one of the teachers gave the top book in this photo to her daughter that was graduating. It was called "I Wish You More" by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and has the cutest little illustrations and big dreams for any friend or child in your life. It reminds me of "Oh the Places You Go" by Dr. Seuss but talks about developing a person's character in the sweetest little sentences.
If you have little girls, I'm sure you are familiar with Molly Idle and her Flora series. I love Flora and the Flamingo and Flora and the Peacocks. The stunning illustrations allow little girls to enter into a world of imagination and discovery. Dancing Flora is the perfect book for any girl who dreams of being a ballerina, but for all girls as well. The beautiful story written through pictures shares an important message and the flip up flaps add to the excitement.
Another favourite is this "Love Is" book by Diane Adams - we chatted about it on our Mother's Day gift guide here. Definitely a must-buy for anyone who is a mom in your life!
Chronicle Books has so many great options to choose from, we could literally go on and on. The big thing though is that reading to your children is such an important step in helping your children learn how to read. It also opens the door to wonder, imagination and learning for your child in a way that is so entertaining and engaging to watch. So even though it may make me feel like I'm ready for a nap, I actually really love reading to my kids, multiple times a day ;)
